I recently visited Québec City in Canada, which is the oldest city in North America with lots of activities. You can really feel this as you stroll around and admire the beautiful buildings and when speaking to the bilingual locals. If you’re visiting this destination filled with culture, I advise checking out the best boutique hotel in Quebec City, Hotel Nomad.
The hotel used to be a private house until 1910, when it was turned into a rooming house, then became an hotel after the second world war. In 2013 the hotel was bought by Romuald, a French experienced hotel professional and Olivier, the director of a marketing firm in Switzerland.
Over the last decade they have worked hard to make this hotel win the TripAdvisor Travelers’s Choice award 8 times and become the first certified Carbon-Neutral hotel in Québec city in 2021. The original name of the hotel was Château Fleur de Lys and was re-branded as Hotel Nomad in 2021.
When looking for a hotel to stay, location is always a very important part. Hotel Nomad is situated in Old Quebec or Vieux Quebec in French, and this is the best part of the city.
You are a short taxi ride or a 20-minute walk from the Gare Centrale and a 1-minute walk from Terrasse Dufferin and Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.
There are 16 rooms in total in this boutique hotel and each room has its own unique interior design with each piece of furniture being original, the room types are Junior Suite, Thematic Rooms, and Standard Rooms.
There are a few different types of suites in the hotel. The main differences between the suites and the other rooms are the size, the amenities and level of comfort.
Junior Suites
There are a few Junior Suites in the hotel, and each has a king size bed. Each of these suites are decorated with the inspiration of French fashion brands; Dior, Chanel and Hermès. You will find out which room you have when you check-in.
Junior Suite 2 Beds
These rooms are the only ones to book for four people as there are two Queen Beds. These rooms are in the semi-basement floor and very spacious with a lounging area. The bathroom and sink are in separate rooms so they can be used separately by the guests when getting ready.
Suite Florence A. White
This room is just breath-taking and, at 540 Square Feet, is the largest room you can choose for your stay. Here you have a king bed, desk, large bathroom with a bathtub and shower and a seating area at the window with a clear view of Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.
The thematic rooms are the next price bracket up from the standard room and the benefits are the extra space and the exclusive décor. Each Thematic Room has a different theme such as space, sailing, the woods etc. These rooms are stunning, and each has a queen bed.
The lowest price option in Hotel Nomad is the standard rooms which have a double bed and a sundeck for the summertime. These rooms are perfect is you are looking to have the boutique hotel experience but are on a budget.
As you enter the hotel you will see the incredible interior design straight away with a deep red coloured armchair and a spiral staircase in the middle of the room.
The front room is where the breakfast is served in the morning and is just stunning. With white beige wallpaper walls and a perturbing wide window, the room is very bright and airy. The fireplace, with a gold mirror overhead, gives an antique style to the interior.
The continental breakfast offers fresh croissants baked at the hotel every morning, pain au chocolate and berry yoghurts. To drink you have a choice of premium fruit juices as well as tea or coffee, or hot chocolate.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the Hotel Nomad for hosting me for two nights. All opinions are my own and are based on my experience
Overall, after my stay in Hotel Nomad I would highly recommend to any travellers visiting the city. The staff are fantastic, providing an excellent customer service and the location and unique style rooms make this the perfect boutique hotel in Quebec! If you want to book a stay in the hotel, the best way is to check their best offers and packages on their website.
