Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out my blog! My name is Jessica Murray and I am a 20-something Irish gal with a huge passion for travel.
I decided to launch this blog in 2021 during the pandemic following the outreak of COVID-19, for the simple reason that it was the first year in a long time that I didn’t jet off on many holidays and realised how much I missed it. I went on a lot of Staycations in Ireland doing that time and since done more travels abroad again. I document on my blog hoping to share some inspiration and tips to fellow travel lovers.
I grew up in the Irish countryside and my love for travelling started at a very young age, as my parents always brought me and my siblings on a trip abroad every year. I am so grateful to my amazing Mom and Dad for giving us the opportunity to see the world! We visited many European countries like Spain and France and even went as far as the US to see Florida and New York.
I studied languages at Trinity College Dublin and while I was in college I went on weekend trips away whenever my part-time job savings allowed me to! French was my major in college and because of this I had to spend a summer living in France and managed to land a job working in Disneyland Paris – which was a dream come through! That summer was the first time I lived in a different country and it taught me so much about living independently and of course helped boost my French speaking skills.
I really got a buzz for living abroad that summer and decided to go on a J1 work and travel Visa to the US the following summer. I went with two friends from college and we worked in a hotel resort in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This time I didn’t have the language barrier (perhaps my French slipped a bit during this time..) so I really took the chance to immerse myself in the culture and lifestyle there. I worked as a cocktail waitress which was a challenge at first since I had only ever worked in retail jobs back in Ireland! Of course, I got to do a bit of travelling after finishing up working, and visited places like New Jersey and one of my all-time favourite cities, New York.
One of the places I visited in 2018 was London. I had been before at the age of 15 but this time I saw the city in a whole new light. I visited a good friend who lived in the city and as soon as I got home, I knew I had to make the move too! My gut just told me London was the place for me. I secured a new job over there, booked a flight and off I went!
Since then I have continued to travel, meet new people and create more memories than I ever thought I’d have. My goal with my blog is to document my travels to share with other people and also have something to look back on when I’m old and grey and laugh about all the amazing things I did when I was young. I hope you enjoy my blog and that it inspires you to travel to new places and build memories that will last forever! Happy travelling!
